Sunday Morning Song of the Moment

By now you've probably have figured out that I'm an old soul & that I was born in the wrong era. What can you do??

Last night, I was successful in my plan of getting Rav plowed. The first "open dance" of the reception....was a Swing dance! I was sitting at our table with 2 other Probation wives - we were chatting it up. I look over at Rav standing in a group of guys talking & he raises his eyebrows and motions to the dance floor. I excused myself from the conversation & headed with my Rav to the dance floor.
Everyone was standing around watching - as we were the only people dancing. And all I could see? Flashbulbs. Lots and lots of flashbulbs. I'm hoping that someone sends us some copies of us dancing & then I'll have to share them.
We had a great time. It was nice to get out & feel those sparks. When you're in the thick of day-to-day it can easily be forgotten.

So, in honor of my Rav falling pray to my plan & the drink, I thought I would share this oldie. It's nothing new. It's nothing we all haven't heard a gazillion times. But I wanted to share it anyway.

I would like to share my side of the story here: There I was, talking to some of the boys from work and they play Glenn Miller. I look at the dance floor and no one is dancing. I then look to my wife, who looked absolutely gorgeous last night. If she was a laser, she would be set on stunning. Anyway, we make eye-contact and I invite her on the dance floor. I must say, that it was interesting being the only people dancing and having everyone in the room watch us. The fatal flaw in the "plan" was that since I was drunk enough to want to be the only two people dancing, then I was drunk enough to forget what the hell I was supposed to do! Sorry babe, I'm a bull in a china shop....

I listen to the 30s and 40s station on XM radio quite a lot of the time. I love it. (My husband and I first danced to Moonlight Serenade, which I remember, but I think he usually forgets.)

I'm glad you got your dance!

You guys just warm the cockles of my heart! In a time when marriages seem to be failing left and right, it's so refreshing and heartening to see a young couple making it work and still loving it!

You're inspiring, you know that?

Also, this song brings back fond memories for me. My first experience playing the piano in a jazz band was playing this song my freshman year of high school. Don't be too impressed; the piano part is pretty elementary. But it was really cool to be accompanying all those brass and wind instruments at 14 years of age!

Even The Viking stopped to watch this clip when I was playing it! I think you impressed him, Tab!
